In 1960s New York, Army veteran Danny Freedman begins a new career in sales at Krakow Foods, a family-owned food manufacturer. With no formal business training, Danny relies on determination, loyalty, and an instinctive understanding of people to build a successful career. He believes he has finally found the opportunity to make something of himself.
But behind the company's respectable reputation, a deadly struggle for power is unfolding. George Dubonski III, the founder's grandson, is determined to become president and CEO. Charming when necessary and ruthless when challenged, George sees murder as another means of eliminating obstacles to his ambitions.
Complicating Danny's career is Francis Green, a vindictive sales executive who manipulates accounts, sabotages employees, and destroys reputations for personal gain. When Danny exposes Green's misconduct and gets him fired, he believes justice has prevailed.
Instead, Dubonski takes control of Krakow Foods, restores Green to a position of authority, and turns Danny's professional life upside down. Fired, falsely accused of wrongdoing, and threatened by a questionable noncompete agreement, Danny finds himself fighting to protect his reputation and livelihood.
As executives disappear and suspicious deaths cast a shadow over the company, a police investigation quietly unfolds. Unaware of how deeply the corruption extends, Danny struggles against two powerful men determined to destroy his future—one of whom is a psychopath willing to kill his way to the top.
